Biography

Pian is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She started her nursing career more than 20 years ago as a med-surg nurse at Our Lady of Resurrection Hospital. However, her interest to pursue oncology nursing began while she was still an undergraduate at UIC. She joined Illinois Cancer Specialists in 1999. She has assumed several roles and positions throughout the years including chemotherapy infusion nurse, nursing supervisor, and research nurse. She has experience in various treatment modalities, symptom management, bone marrow transplant, cancer prevention, and clinical trial management. Pian was nominated twice by her patients for the Nurse of the Year Award through the Leukemia Research Foundation. Pian is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with special interests in hematologic malignancies and clinical research. She has overseen the research program and managed many clinical trials that provided patients access to novel cancer therapies such as immunotherapy and target therapy.

Pian and her husband have three children.  She enjoys cooking, knitting, and spending time with her children.
